Amm _ Organization Fair trade

History and Mission:

Mujeres Microempresarias is citizen's organization that considers itself as

as an advisory body within terms of financial resources and supports women. The organization was created by women

in a moment of severe economic problems, so we are very dedicated to helping each other.

After many years of experience in a programme of Economía Solidaria (solidarity-based economy) in the province of Buenos Aires,

I had the occasion to specialize in the promotion and development of the market for Fair Trade in Argentina.

The idea was based on the desire of a production of mutual benefit.

The Asociación Mujeres Microempresarias sees its mission in the strengthening of the woman regarding self-determination, in the possibility to analyze,

evaluate and plan autonomously. All this taking into account the local conditions and traditions of the indigenous

Women who make the fair trade products. Our undertakings have focused not only on the marketing of handicrafts, but also on the institutional strengthening of

the group and on the efficient organization of production processes.

Our current goal is to make our work known at national level. In addition, we develop alternative marketing possibilities

such as Internet or cooperation with international organizations.

For the succes of our project, we consider it indispensable to inform the population about injustices in the traditional

trading system and about opportunities offered by fair trade. Topics such as Consumo Responsable (responsible consumption) are here

considered not only as a social movement, but as a lifestyle.

Maria Cristina Minuet (Formation: Superior Technical Studies in Business Administration), worked as a

personal manager in a business for temporary work, where she was fired in 1993 because of her pregnancy.

Over the years, she founded the Asociación Mujeres Microempresarias to promote the economic activity of women and a human treatment within economic production.

Currently, she is the senior leader of the bio cosmetics company "Reina del Bosque."
